HALF-TIME !!! The idea behind the label name is quite simple. After 50 single releases the label will not be continued and instead look back on a series of unique electronic dance music. With catalog number 25 the first half is now completed. As a very special guest Marcel Dettmann returns to 50 Weapons for a celebration of classic techno. Similar to his sold out “Deluge / Duel” single from December 2011, Marcel Dettmann affirms his love of purified, pumping techno. (Modeselektor SC, 2013) Out January 11 on 50 Weapons!
“This is by a new producer called Dimitri Veimar who has been sending me some amazing music this year, I love his style. He made this remix as a bootleg from the original and it was too good not to share with the world.” – Daniel Avery (Phantasy Sound SC, 2012)

Twin Turbo presents the debut release from Pilo, featuring three tracks to destroy whatever’s left of 2012′s dancefloors.
It’s always a source of pride for the label to discover a new artist and shove him out onto the world stage to sink or swim into the playlists of all the huge names who pay rapt attention to everything we do. We were introduced to Pilo through Harvard Bass, who suggested his fellow Californian for remix duties on his own recent Twin Turbo release. Now, we’re pleased to present Pilo’s proper debut, the work of yet another huge young talent grinding it out for nu-techno supremacy.
“Ubstraktion (Jazz Yo Self Mix)” melds rave diva vox, an infectious siren hook, and high-BPM lysergic techno, leaving you wonder what the less jazzy mix could possibly sound like. Meanwhile, “Forte Inductance” strips away the nonsense to genuine “stripped-down, no-nonsense” levels, relying on a relentless kick, overdriven toms, and a melting MC vocal to get the job done. Finally, “Trippin” gets you trippin’ so hard that the term “after-hours warehouse banger-monster” seems to lose all meaning, before gaining way too much meaning.
Twin Turbo – closing out the year with new discoveries, new digital bombs, and new definitions of peak-time dominance. We’ll see you in 2013 with music that reflects our world’s inevitable Mad Max, dancing-in-the-breadline reality. (Turbo Recordings SC, 2012) Beatport here.
You know you’re ready for something special when lord UMEK comes up with a one-tracker, and even the title on this one let’s you know you’re in for a manic ride. Sly bass sets the tone, under the tightly-wound rhythm section and flashy stabs make way for a cheeky vocal that takes the lead role. The busy drum edits keep the adrenaline levels high at all times and yet another page is written in production history, with UMEK’s trademarked sound. (Umek SC, 2012) Beatport here.
Siwell‘s “Hangover” is a demonstration of pure class, with both tracks oozing character and quality. The title track’s rubber-band bass makes a triumphant entrance, allowing vocal snippets and phrases to do their business, while furious edits and funked-out vibes fill in the gaps.On “Reshuffle”, we get a housey treat with filtered goodness holding it down, before evolving chords add tons of prestige and panache to the affair. Uto Karem‘s double dose of juiciness keeps the bounce going and the rhythm rolling while justifying the EP’s title in full. “Taking Me” proudly wears its disco influences on its sleeve with a highly addictive bassline and stabs straight from the boogie vault. The uplifting vocal loops and mesmerizes, while galloping percussion provides the steady chug-fest. On “Earth Link” we are introduced to some rubber-band bass sealed tight over a snappy rhythm section, letting a sleazy vocal sample do its business and take things to another level with a laid-back groove and euphoric effects. Although London bass trio Dark Sky‘s discography is still relatively short, they have proven adept with a varied sonic palette, one that includes serene melodies, cut-up R&B snippets, thundering organic drums, and thick bass sounds underpinning the entire operation. Their “Radius EP” released in Summer 2011 became one of the best sold and most sought after singles from the continuously growing 50 Weapons catalog.A year later it’s time for a strong follow up! The excellent “Myriam EP” is certainly living up to the high expectations. Garage rhythms, Clonkstep, Post-UK Funky, techy House references and even nods to Electro all united in 4 smashing club tunes are a blazing example for the ongoing Bass evolution. (Modeselektor SC, 2012)
Back on Agile Encodings Juan DDD and Johan Dresser now together with Johnny Kaos, three young talents, called in south America “Las tres Jotas”, who are climbing the international scene with their music. On Agile they delivers a double ep “Duckman ep. Part 1″ and “Duckman ep. Part 2″. Techno, Techouse, Funky are the typical sound that characterize the release in the perfect Agile style. Some pushy-ass tech madness from Gaga out now on 1605 Music Therapy. Beatport here. Gaga’s double attack comes in the form of a lesson in drums with the title track rolling effortlessly through the the night, using carefully placed percussion and rumbling subs to set the tone. “Yeah” picks up right after, with layers upon layers of drums ensuring full impact as it crunches, chugs, and effortlessly builds as a result of impeccable arrangement. (1605 SC, 2012)

Our Platform series has reached Level 9 and we have a quadruple dose of futuristic syrup for you to sip on. George Privatti’s strong chugger “Kolunga” starts things off with old-school influenced bass and some euphoria thrown in during the breakdown, while the Venditti Bros step right up with the busy drums and rumbling sub frequencies of “Deseo”. DJ Fronter opts for a ride down hypnotic lane with an array of vocal manipulation and his trademarked groove, clearing the field for David Devilla and Daniman’s “Tucan” with their percussion-heavy approach and tribalistic vocals. (1605 SC, 2012) Beatport!
Glen Brady aka Wool is here with his latest release titled “Rock Opera”. This is the California-based producer’s best work yet and reiterates why he’s become synonymous with acid house.
The first track “Illuminate” is a deep house track with a steady throbbing beat with synth sounds from outerspace. On first listen to “Rock Opera,” it’s immediately evident where the name comes from. Soprano operatic vocals arpeggiate up and down over fat basslines come together perfectly to remind us that yes, you can mix genres and yes it can sound fantastic. “Birth Control” starts with a diminutive smooth as butter beat assisted by the sound of hi-hats and vibrating synths that whisper softly in your ear. This is the track you want to get lost in to the early hours of the morning.
Leading the pack of remixes is Delect’s interpretation of “Illuminate.” It comes in with whirring synths that crescendo into telephonic sounds that will send you careening down a dizzying spiral. Next up are three remixes of “Rock Opera” by Reilly Steel, Wax Romeo, and Boyfriend. Reilly Steel taps into raw industrial noises and phone dials. A big bass line and eerie pulsating synths will be sure to get your heart rate pumping. At points it sounds like lasers bouncing off a funhouse of mirrors, flashing disorienting light keeping you the psychedelic trip the track started you off on. Wax Romeo takes a more rhythmic, rock-inspired approach with his remix that comes at you full force. The operatic vocal samples come to the forefront and are sped up, accompanied by growling synths. Finally, Boyfriend’s remix is one R&B and hip hop lovers will gravitate towards. Nasty is the only way to describe this track with the BPM turned all the way down to 78.
